How to find out her ring finger. Size tips and myths

When trying to keep your proposal plans a surprise, figuring out the finger size of your future fiancée can sometimes be challenging. In this post, Novita will share its range of solutions and options.

HOW TO CORRECTLY MEASURE HER FINGER SIZE

If you happen to live in a city where we don’t have a showroom yet, you can simply visit a local jewellery store.  They can accurately get her finger size. But if we have a showroom in your city or it is convenient for you to travel, please do visit us. (This option is applicable only when she already knows or when it’s a semi-surprise.)

If there is difficulty visiting a jewellery or our showroom, the next best thing is to order our free ring sizer. 

TIP: When using our free ring sizer or any other ring sizer, please make sure it is tight. Engagement rings are meant to be tight and hard to take off.

OPTION 1: LET OUR EXPERT HELP YOU DECIDE

At Novita, we are here to help. Take the majority of the guessing out of the equation and let one of our experts do the heavy lifting for you.

All you need to do is simply contact us or visit our showroom and show us photos of your future fiancée preferably those that include her hands. One of our experienced team members will be able to estimate the ring size. This is not an easy task but after years and years of experience, our team became good at it. Despite their experience, they will still always suggest a slightly bigger size so that it would fit on the proposal day. After that big day, she can have her ring resized.

OPTION 2: 

This approach we don't recommend due to its inaccuracy but it'll give you an estimate. Try to get one of the rings she wears but make sure it’s not for the thumb or the pinky finger. Please, download our ring sizer to measure the ring size. Please, note that the dominant hand tends to be one size bigger. This is not the most accurate way but it still gives you an approximation.

TIP: It’s very important to go for a slightly bigger size than what you think she is. It could be quite embarrassing to find out on the proposal day that the ring only fits her up to the knuckle. The engagement ring looking like that is less likely to be very instagramable.  


ONE LAST TIP: Rings with lab grown diamonds on the band can usually be safely resized no more than 2 sizes up or down. Resizing up to more than 2 sizes is still possible but it complicates the process and generates extra costs. Also, keep in mind that when resizing going down to the smaller size is easier than going up.
